Two public viewing events, one football summer
08.05.2026 - When the Football World Cup kicks off this summer, the Wyniger Group will be transforming two of its venues into lively gathering places for football fans. With big screens, a range of food and drink, and a summery atmosphere, both 1777 in the Schmiedenhof and the Wirtshaus St. Jakob invite you to come and cheer on the teams together.
Public viewing in the heart of Basel city centre
During the World Cup, a public viewing area will be set up in the courtyard of the 1777 restaurant, right in the heart of Basel. In the historic Schmiedenhof, right next to the market square, all matches will be shown on a big screen until 10 pm from 11 June to 19 July 2026 – under the open sky and in an urban summer atmosphere.
Weather permitting, the public viewing will take place outdoors in the Schmiedenhof, combining football, dining and city life in a prime central location.
World Cup Garden right next to the Joggeli
At the same time, the St. Jakob pub invites you to the ‘World Cup Garden at the Joggeli’. In the idyllic garden of this traditional establishment, directly opposite St. Jakob Park, all matches featuring the Swiss national team as well as selected knockout-stage matches will be broadcast live.
